why did you guys stop using 4chon for threads?
703 Name: Anonymous : 2013-12-04 03:50

I think they started killing the threads, I think

Which is strange, considering the nth amount of threads r/a/dio has had, on top of the new year's stickies we had

Oh my god this Daft Punk mix is amazing.

Hey Egg, I just want to thank you for your stream the Tuesday before last.

I had it playing in the background when I was playing a 5-hour board game with my friends (Catan). It was just fantastic, how it started with smooth jazz throughout the start middle of the game, keeping everyone's minds cool, then switched to more of a heroic, movie-soundtrack-like base as the game was moving towards the end, giving an exciting air which climaxed at my killer victory. After the game ended, the mood cooled down with the addition of pleasant post-game music, as the stream was coming to an end. It was just perfect, and everyone really enjoyed it.

So I just wanted to thank you for your stream, and for making my night last November. Cheers~

Oh man I do love Ben Folds.

Art was nice. What really caught my attention was how vibrant all of the sounds were.
The story was more or less what I'd expect from Shinkai: nothing to complain about, but only because there isn't much there to be offended by in the first place.
Maybe he just needed more time to work with, but I mean, Hotarubi no Mori e was the same length, and even though you know exactly where it's going within the first few minutes, I actually cared about the characters.

Just a suggestion, but you could go with the approach that sounds threads have taken. Just request everyone sage until it get to the bottom of the index.

Well back when we had threads on /a/, most threads would innocently start with asking what we were drinking with the stream that night. Then one thing led to another and half the time we'd talk about life advice in one form or another.

But what I wanted to talk about was more on the bloggin side. Instead of going off on a rant let me pose a question after I say a bit.

Basically, I for a little while I've noticed this kinda tomboy she's not really pretty but I can't help but think she's really cute. So let me ask, what exactly is cute when it's not about appearance?
767 Name: Zippy : 2013-12-11 03:56
>>766

Personality Charm, wit, etc. It can be multiple things. Also you could just be discovering you like tomboys. Took me a while to realize how much I liked shorter hair on girls and that it was more then just the occasional cute one. Though good long hair is also appreciated a lot by me still.
768 Name: Anonymous : 2013-12-11 03:58
>>766
When it's not about appearance, it's about mannerisms, I suppose.
That's quite broad, but there has to be something she's doing that's piquing your interesting.

Are you talking to her, or is this much more of an admiration-from-on-far thing?
Because if that's the case, I'd guess that a lot of it might just be in your head. I mean, is it at all possible that you're just projecting your pre-existing thoughts about tomboys onto her? If you are, that sort of thing just compounds on itself the more you see her, the more you think about her, and the more you question why she's cute.
That sounds rather harsh though, when I say it like that.
769 Name: Zippy : 2013-12-11 04:04
>>768

More likely then not he likes the girl, but his environment/previous history with tomboys keeps him from realizing what he likes about her.
770 Name: Zippy : 2013-12-11 04:14
My last post is in regards to the idea that you really can't find something you like about her. But I really think and I hope it's what I said in my first response to you that it's something like her charm or personality that has you liking her.
771 Name: Anonymous : 2013-12-11 04:16
>>768

Haha, you've hit on a lot of things I've been working through myself. I've only gotten to speak to her a couple times and never in a setting where I could really get to know her. So a good part of this is a projection of what I want and seeing only what I want to see.

Mostly though, I've noticed some mannerisms that lead me to believe she might have the kind of personality I like. Like I've noticed she has a hard time sitting still, messes up her short hair when it seems like she's frustrated, she seems somewhat hotheaded and maybe a bit arrogant when I talked to her, but not in a mean way.

Normally, I'd cast it aside but there's been a few maybe moments when I wonder if she's actually interested in me also. There's been a few occasions where she's walked through my aisle in class when the aisle behind me is shorter and had no one sitting in it (it makes more sense if you knew the layout). It feels like she's been eyeing me, a few times she's gotten up and stretched looking in my direction most times (this ones a stretch, zing). The one thing that's really gotten me recently, is there was a practical where we were split into groups. She sat next to me, although it was a small room, but there were other chairs (this was after I had talked to her a while ago and pretty much made a fool out of myself). She never directly talked to me though, besides some side comments.

I like to think I'm past the admiration from afar thing, but the thing is I know how unlikely it is that there's something more. Even though, if she's the kind of girl who's not honest with herself and that really small chance is the truth, I feel like I can't ignore it this time.

Oh okay, so that's where you are.
Looking at the world through your eyes, it does certainly look like she's crushing just as hard on you, but then, it always does.
There's not really any advice to give other than what you already know, which is to pony up and talk to her.

Your description of her is very cute though, straight out of some Hollywood rom-com.
I hope I don't come across as too cynical through all this, but really you'll never know unless you take a step forward. ("Easier said than done," you say.)
777 Name: Anonymous : 2013-12-11 04:37

Ya that's where I am, my rose colored goggles are full tint. The zinger is that, I haven't been able to see her for a few weeks in class or otherwise, I tried to contact her through social media with no avail most recently (which is disheartening and pokes a hole in my delusions).

The only option I see left, unless somehow I get to see her again, is asking a friend of hers to contact her for me. In my small group, there's a classmate that she usually sat with in class with. I really hate not talking to her directly, now that I figured out I want to talk to her. But I guess I'll just have to use him as an intermediary.

Hah, I hate this it feels like I'm insane but fully aware of it. I might as well sign myself up for the Amagami challenge.

You sound so lovesick, it's really quite cute (in a nice way, not a patronizing one).
Do you at least know why she hasn't been in class?
If not, I certainly hope that's the first question you ask that guy, and not "how do I get a hold of her."
779 Name: Zippy : 2013-12-11 04:44

Sounds like how the majority of relationships start man. Relationships are just, hey there's something I find attractive about, don't what it is but let's try dating see if I can't find and see if there's something there. So just ask her out even you're not sure yourself if you like her. Dating is just going out there and taking a chance, so just keep swinging for the fences.
780 Name: Zippy : 2013-12-11 04:50
>>777

I wouldn't use an itermediary, girls like people being direct and I've never seen a middle man situation go down well. Also what >>778 said, just ask your friend where she went to then wait for her return and talk to her then. Don't make it look like you're desperate to find her, word does get around, and it could lead to her having mixed signals about you, if she hears from friends that you someone she doesn't know very well kept asking were you were for the past couple weeks as if she were your missing wife.
781 Name: Anonymous : 2013-12-11 04:55
>>778

I've always been lovesick, even when there's not a girl I've been interested in. Our classes are recorded, but for this block most of our studying is self-directed so there really are like only a couple lectures a week to go to. Although, now that I think about it she seemed to go to almost every class until the first time I talked to her. Then we had a new set of classes, and I didn't see her outside of orientation. No I'll scratch that one to my delusions.

Hah, no it won't be like that, outside of romantic relationships I usually present myself pretty well. This is just one area of my life I've refused to develop casually. This route might end up being better, because I'm sure he has a better impression of me from our small group meetings than she probably does.

>>779

Hah, thanks. I have a feeling this will go like most of the past ones. But being a fool hasn't stopped me in the past, it's only delayed me until I've had no shot. I guess I'll find out if it's the same this time.
782 Name: Anonymous : 2013-12-11 05:03

You're so cute, anon.
Best of luck.
783 Name: Anonymous : 2013-12-11 05:05
>>780

No I mean an intermediary, to set up a way to contact her and talk to her directly. As it stands right now, I have no way to contact her.

The plan was just to simply state that I'm interested in her, but I haven't really had a chance to talk to her and if he would be able to help me out. Either if she wanted to meet or talk over the phone, or if she is just really against that. He's free to refuse, and then I will have exhausted all my options and it wasn't meant to be.

At this point, if she turns out to be even a fraction of the kind of girl I feel she is, I wouldn't care less what anyone thinks of me. But more likely I will be making a fool out of myself for no reason, but I've been through worse.
