Hunkering Down

After some time not browsing image boards and the internet recreationally, other than the cafe, I've returned with a heightened sense of how it's really volatile out there. The computer habits thread especially reinforced that fact and reminded me how easily things can get heated up.

What say you all we hunker down in the cafe and close off all contact(or at least stay amongst each other for awhile) only leaving to do the most necessary of things.

I do not expect it to last forever but a week or two of having nothing but ourselves for e-social contact should reinforce our group/cafe loyalty and identity. We get to have a little project on relaxing all the while strengthening bonds.

If you feel like it, post what you did during the day that did not involve computers. A productive work day, a cozy drive, a pleasant enjoyment of a summer night, all is welcome!

I took a nap today! It was very dark and cloudy when I woke up, so it made me sleepy again, but I fought against it and ate some chocolate.

Life is good again.

I went for a bike ride even though it was dark, windy, and rainy. But surprisingly, it was not cold, even when I was wet from the downpour. I actually like rain when it's not too cold.
I came across a pack of coyotes at one point. I didn't actually see them, but I did hear them howl. They seemed pretty close.
Pretty soon I'm going to take a relaxing bath, do some laundry, make some scrambled eggs and coffee, and perhaps go out for another ride. I should really take my bike in to the shop to get some things fixed, but I guess I'll do that later.
One of the great things about biking on nature trails (aside from the obvious fact that they are pretty) is that there are often long stretches without any people at all. I'm not a misanthrope, but being alone is nice. Sometimes I'll pull over, leave my bike at the side of the trail and just lay in grassy fields and stare at the sky.

The first thing I do when waking up is visiting my Animal Crossing town. Nothing exciting happened, so I got out of bed and made breakfast (also pretty boring, just some bread with cheese).

I disassembled a few bookshelves, which I will get rid of tomorrow. At first i didn't find the right bit for the screwdriver, the screws looked really weird. Disassembling the shelves was pretty easy, once i found the right bit.
There is an awful lot of mediocre fantasy literature I will give away to the library.

Then I relaxed on the couch until it was time for lunch. Not quite the heroic deed, but I'm just superlazy.
I cooked a sausage and some potatoes and I also ate the leftovers from yesterday's salad.

Right now, I'm on the couch again. I'll probably work on the layout of my current webproject for a bit (just pen and paper, due to the renovation my PC isn't connected) and call it a day. Maybe some logo design.
I wish I could take a bath, but the water heater is broken and i can't afford to fix it. Cold shower in the morning it is.

I saw an apartment today, it's beautiful.

I went to get my car maintanenced. Had the oil, power steering fluid, tire balance and hinge lubes replaced. There was an upgrade to the navigation firmware based on a recall as well as a fresh car wash.

It feels nice to have your car taken care of and maybe it's my imagination but it just FEELS smoother. I had to wait a couple of hours but it was totally worth it.

I got up way to late, so I couldn't eat or drink something. Basically got dressed and sprinted to the bus station to catch my bus.
Then, I had a meeting at work which seemed to be endless, so no eating or drinking either.
After the meeting was over, I cought my bus just in time, so again, no time to eat or drink something. When I got home, I stuffed my face with chicken.

Some pens I ordered finally arrived! I'll continue learning to draw (digital painting once I'm comfortable with the basics).
Also I got rid of the bookshelves and suddenly there is so much free space, wow.

I had some ceramic pots out in the lawn that were full of garbage and stuff. I took out the garbage and washed them thoroughly and put some fresh dirt and sunflower seeds.

Put them on my porch. Hopefully they look a bit nicer once the plants actually start growing out.

Tomorrow, I'm going to clear out a bee nest and continue clearing up my yard. I still have more pots out back that I intend to fill and replant. I just ran out of dirt today. It's not so much the work or anything that I enjoy but when you put time and effort and SEE it pay off in the form of a pleasant thing to look at, man is that a helluva thing.

I bought a new lamp! It was really cheap and it's very basic, but the way it's mounted I can move it everywhere above (or even under) my desk. It's so comfortable!

I also managed to destroy a chiclet key and I couldn't fix it because my fingers are too big to put that tiny switch to where it belongs. Time to remap that insert key.

I finished a big paper...time to deflate.

I woke up real early and watched the sunrise on my roof. I was so tired but it was worth it.

I got invited to a party but declined and instead went on a long bike ride because I like exercise and nature but I hate alcohol and people. I had a really nice ride. It really cleared my mind.

If being a social means killing my liver at shitty parties full of uninteresting people, I'd rather be antisocial.

I am the same way.
but if you think about it, we don't really hate social interaction in general, we're just ambivalent about it. I think the people who go to parties are ambivalent about it too, or else they wouldn't need to drink liquor to have a good time.

I like alcohol and people and alcohol just makes things much more fun. Not a huge fan of getting shitfaced, but I feel like I don't worry about making mistakes as much when I have a good buzz going. As long as I don't drink, I'm super shy and don't talk to anyone, but once I've had a few beers I feel really good.
That said, I don't drink alcohol often, maybe once a month and I'd also prefer a long bike ride to many parties.

at shitty parties full of uninteresting people
I found that most people are interesting, once you get to know them. I'm often surprised by learning something new about people, I wouldn't have considered before.

For example, there is like this guy I've known for a long time, never really talked with him. He just kind of existed. Then I talked to him at a party and it turns out he made a really cool homebrew RPG and I playtested it and it was really cool.

I went to the dentist today and everything went better than expected.
I didn't do anything else.

No, but they didn't go full Bioshock on me either.
