Ya know I've been thinking...
I used to have alot of friends in my neighborhood, that is until they grew up. So it's been quite lonely around here. However, there is this family with a daughter and son (17/18-ish) who moved in right across the street from me about a year ago. I've been thinking about how cool it would be to have friends who conveniently live that close to me whom I can hang out with whenever pretty much.
So, I'm making it a goal to become friends with them.
But I will admit, it will be a bit tough approaching them to start a friendship. There's a pretty good chance that if I went up to them and simply said "hi" it will end up creating an awkward atmosphere. So I've been trying to think of something to say that will start a friendly conversation in the least awkward way possible the next time I happen to see them outside.
I don't know their real age, their names, nor even exactly what their face looks like as I've only seen them from looking out the window. Pretty much know nothing about them at all. So it will be interesting getting to know them.
(In fact I will be referring to the daughter as Kara and the son as Jade here.)
Suggestions of what I can say or do to start a bond with them would be much appreciated and I will keep you all updated of what happens :D

Yeah don't approach them cold like that. Find a way to bump into them accidentally.

Yea, I've also been trying to think of something that might cause them to approach me.
I've thought of practicing badminton in front of my house and if they see me often enough, they may get curious and ask "Do you live there" or something like that. I will also wear my Totoro sweater because I get compliments on it almost every time I go out wearing it. So that may also attract them to interact with me. I see Kara's car in front, so she might come outside today.

I think it's also quite fair to invite them over to simple events, such as if you ever have a barbecue, or are going to an interesting concert. May I ask how old you are, Lain?

I am 18 years old.
You're right. Once I get acquainted with them, I will be sure to invite them over for supper or maybe take them out for ramen :D
