They currently *are* in chronological order. Oldest added links at the top, newest added links at the bottom.

When I said that the newest entry was "The History of the Web", I meant that it was the first new link *in the update* - Every link that comes after "The History of the Web" is a new addition in this update. Sorry for the confusion due to my poor wording.

Aaah, I understand.
Okay, do you update in batches? Then I would do
Maybe add a "(NEW!)" tag to the latest entries
and keep that until the next batch of links comes.

Okay, do you update in batches?
Yes, always.

The "(NEW!)" tags are something I will definitely consider doing with future updates for sure. I'll try and figure out the best/nicest looking way of doing it.

This is nice. I faintly recall a fairly popular Russian onion site on dedicated to haibane too.

Is bus stop down? There’s a 502 error

Yes. The Bus Stop is hosted on-prem and the admin's moving out of his current apartment. Might be out for a week, hopefully it'll come back faster.

Most of the obscure boards have been taken down or have no significant activity whatsoever. Almost all of the imageboards linked in this thread no longer exist. The few active boards left are so small (<50 posters) that you can easily tell who's posting based on their linguistic patterns.

This is an interesting and comfy place that archives all the music from the weather channel. Dude has audio that goes back almost 40 years. Really good for a nostalgia trip.

This is one of my favourite internet places. Looking into koronbas past led me to discovering Speder2, who does the music for the games here. This is the website of a group that makes small, short games, with nice art and music.
http://kohada.ushimairi.com/

Similar, here's the site of a single person who makes rpgmaker games, most "famously" (still rather obscurely) Neftelia, a very good vaguely-yume nikki fangame.

I disliked that no return area in neftelia until I found the hidden room that reminds me of some type of satirical ritualistic abuse.

It's not just imageboards. Western forums aren't doing too hot either, even on non-nerdy ones there are people who are open about either the state of the hobby they're doing declining and being less fun or the forum becoming worse and debating ever logging back on. I wonder if everything is becoming worse or people are just growing old and bitter in general.

Seeing all the dead links on here was a sad sight, but I did find an imageboard that gave me a nice interaction that made me feel good.
"the anger and political rage you are fueling yourself with is going to take years off of your life my man. it isn’t productive.

spend less time online, talk to more people, i promise you things aren’t so bad. and when you do spend time online, try to have fun, otherwise what’s really the point?"
Feels like surfer wisdom.

Genuinely some great reads there, I'll definitely be returning to it. I'm not sure if there's much point in making an account, but I definitely would've if I had seen Haibane Renmei in the mid 2000s

spend less time online, talk to more people, i promise you things aren’t so bad. and when you do spend time online, try to have fun, otherwise what’s really the point?

There is nothing to do offline besides going to work and falling asleep. Conversation is mentally draining and a waste of time. The only reason I still bother owning a computer is to do personal research, finish my backlogs, and to discover music. The internet hasn't been "fun" for close to a decade.

It's part of the reason why I've drastically cut back on lurking imageboards (besides the drop-off in post quality). I'm tired of recognizing the same fifty or so anonymous posters by the way they type or by what pictures they usually attach to their posts. It's the most surreal thing and it's not just on imageboards. The only website I use that still gives off the atmosphere of being significantly populated is Twitter. It feels as if the internet is slowly losing its voice over time.
