How did you find this place?

1 Name: Anonymous : 2019-03-28 22:32
To me, I only stumbled on here because of a long rabbit hole beginning with some 4chan thread about sageru. Intentionally googling for this place turns no results. It seems like the only way to end up here is through rumours on other boards and ancient nearly dead links from 10 years ago.
2 Name: Anonymous : 2019-03-28 23:38
I think I got here when I went searching for quiet image/textboards. Probably found the link on an archived chan thread, or maybe an old reddit discussion.
3 Name: Anonymous : 2019-04-09 00:09
A while ago I was on a trip through a bunch of different imageboards and textboards. I had gotten fed up with 4chan and 8chan and, through /g/, I had found lainchan. Then through lainchan, I found other boards and had just expanded from there. I'm happy to have found so many of these small communities; it's much nicer than 4/8chan though I still use them due to frequency of posts. Though I might soon quit spending so much time on imageboards so that frequency doesn't become a requirement.

Hey, are you that guy off of /qa/ who visited sageru's #jp a while back? If so, nice to see you still around!
5 Name: Anonymous : 2019-04-10 12:25
Eyy, I’ll be here forever, it’s chill and funky in the right way.
6 Name: Anonymous : 2019-04-12 16:17
It used to be the YKK board.
7 Name: Anonymous : 2019-04-14 17:52
>>6
The YKK board had custom CSS, right? What exactly did it look like?
8 Name: Anonymous : 2019-04-21 02:18
It was just blue, wasn't it?
I wish I had taken a screenshot back then.
9 Name: Anonymous : 2019-04-23 15:06
A rabbit hole starting with the 2channel Wikipedia page

you can still find an old backup here:
https://afternoon.dynu.com/ykkaria/

>>10
Sadly not all pages were cached and we lost the custom css, but most of it is here.
12 Name: Anonymous : 2019-04-26 14:13
i was drugs (A bunch of them) and started searching for online post offices, according to browsing history. Not exactly sure why or how but ended up here and planning to stay.

i was drugs (a bunch of them)
lol
I'm sure that was a typo, but it conveys your meaning so clearly.
14 Name: Anonymous : 2019-04-30 01:42
there was a google document made a long time ago that I found while searching for new boards a couple months ago. This was one of the only ones which had had any bumps in the previous month, so I stuck around.

Yeah, this seems to be one of the most active text boards still around. Good thing it's also the best one!

I like chakai and bus stop. Very active and very cool dudes on both of them.
17 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-01 22:59
>>16
Bus stop is great, never heard of chakai though, what's it like?
18 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-02 00:39
>>17
It’s only open for 2 2 hour periods a day, at chakai.org. The users are anonymous, kind of, but they use signature images to identify themselves. It’s very chill, but it might take a while to yknow, get into. Everyone knows each other.

They also have a minecraft server, spigot.chakai.org. Currently building a sky rail across it.

>>18
Oh wow, sounds cozy. Might have to lurk around there next time it opens.
20 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-02 22:59
Found this place linked on a firefox startpage
21 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-03 15:56

How the hell are people accurately replying to people in the future? My mind is full of fuck and I absolutely cannot figure it out.
22 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-03 16:43
>>21
It has live typing, so you can see posts being written after yours. They look yellow while they're still being written.
23 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-03 19:27
>>18
I visit it from time to time read-only.
The longer you go there, the more it feels like reading a book.
Admin is against posting the address tho.
24 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-04 06:15
>>18
At this point they should just go on a discord which they probably already did.
25 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-04 12:13
>>23
large oof, was not aware.
>>24
If there is I’m not aware of it.
26 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-04 12:25
>>23
Why is he against it, do they not want new members or something?

I mean I guess I could see wanting to keep it a tight-knit community, but that still seems a bit odd to me.
27 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-04 13:51
>>26
Yeah that's why I posted
>>24
It's pretty dead for an online community standards, it's already a circle jerk, they don't want any new members and with all this there's no need to host a public site anymore, especially when it's not even accessible for the most time of the day. Why not just make a discord then? Sounds like elitism to me.
28 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-04 23:56
>>27

What sites would be not dead by internet community standards then? Most of the places I’ve been to have much less posting traffic than that.
29 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-05 21:17
/tea/ is pretty well known at this point. I mean you guys are saying the actual URL which you just don't do out of respect. It's like you're unfamiliar with /jp/ spinoffs. Oh well, it's unishitters anyways. What has happened with /qa/ and that list of IBs is still unfortunate. The maker regrets it at least.
30 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-05 22:40
>>29

unishitters
something about /qa/
List of IBs?
I’m confused, what went down with /qa/ and the maker? What is a unishitter?
31 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-06 07:34
>>28
out of respect
For arrogant elitists? No. All the /jp/ spinnoffs can crash with no survivors for all I care.
32 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-06 09:15
>>31

Bruh moment. Did you have a bad experience with them or something? They just seem like, well, regular people.
33 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-06 10:15
>>32
bruh Moment
Certified.
regular people
Then we have a very different definition of "regular people" then.
34 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-06 16:06
I just finished my first two hour window with them. They seemed fine to me. Just your usual anime posters talking about their current happenings. I will be returning to them regularly in the mornings while working since it seems like a nice way to distract myself. I don't have anyone in mind that likes all these slow-paced places like Post Office or /tea/, for better or for worse.
35 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-10 01:23
I was wanting to start a website of my own, and was considering creating a BBS to see if I could stand moderating it. Now I'm some beers in and wound up here somehow.
36 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-12 17:10
i have a text file with a seemingly random string of letters as the name and it's a gigantic list of image boards. this one was one it. i'm not entirely sure where it came from as i'm prone to manic bouts of archiving and rabbit holes online. nice place, this one.
37 Name: Anonymous : 2019-05-17 10:15

Good luck with your future project!

Still wanting to make your own? any progress/details you can share?
39 Name: Anonymous : 2020-01-02 13:10
Searched for 4taba2 on Google and found a link with someone mentioning it here.

How do you even begin with building a new community if you are not supposed to tell anyone about it? They must have advertised around some circles to garner a foundational audience, right?
41 Name: Anonymous : 2020-01-02 21:40
>>40
Mostly word of mouth I guess. A friend told me about this place, and I've been browsing ever since.
42 Name: Anonymous : 2020-01-03 12:08
I literally don't remember one bit. But I'm certainly glad that I did.

A thread from another obscure chan.
44 Name: Anonymous : 2020-01-04 10:21
Found the link on a geocities webpage, for which I'm forever grateful.
45 Name: Anonymous : 2020-01-06 07:26
I found this on a general list of imageboards and textboards. I haven't lurked much, but this seems interesting
46 Name: Anonymous : 2020-01-06 22:42
Smoke signals.
47 Name: Anonymous : 2020-01-07 22:56
it is a continuation of ykkaria which i found through tohno-chan which i found through a crazed incel friend that i met on a my little pony forum

through infinite sadness

Same. I tried most of them out, I liked this one the best. Very comfy.
51 Name: Anonymous : 2020-06-14 13:33
I don't remember how I did exactly, I always have a hard time recalling why I did something, but I found lainchan and found their "post other imageboards". Some one posted sushichan and I found this site from there. My reason for clicking all those links is that I like obscure stuff and lainchan was nice, but you couldn't post comfy things on it.
52 Name: Anonymous : 2020-06-15 18:51
ykkaria on IRC which has been dead for some time.

I have more than 2k bookmarks and I was cleaning some. And there it was. I didn't know what this site was but I had already bookmarked it years ago..

I'm still nowhere near finishing. But I did manage to bring back some good old memories, which in turn made me a bit depressed. Good luck on your journey to your past.
58 Name: Anonymous : 2021-12-14 08:59
>>57

im expecting most to be dead links by now, which makes it EVEN MORE depressing
59 Name: Anonymous : 2021-12-14 12:37
I have at least 50 thousand bookmarks, and that's a very conservative estimate; I suspect the actual number is closer to 140 thousand. And this estimate excludes the 50 or so thousand bookmarks on my old broken computer. How do I stop saving useless bullshit?
60 Name: Anonymous : 2021-12-14 21:56
>>59

surf through each link and download/archive anything you find of interest. trust me, it's a trip. you'll be glad of doing it
61 Name: Anonymous : 2021-12-17 04:08
was just looking at startup/new-tab pages on github and found that a repo had this site as a bookmark in it, feels cozy and quiet so i kept the bookmark for myself too !!
62 Name: Anonymous : 2021-12-17 08:24
I heard from /a/ that this used to be a YKK/Aria imageboard

I found this place on a custom made browser homepage from a /g/ homepage thread, it had lots of boards on it along with this little gem and a couple others...
67 Name: Anonymous : 2021-12-22 11:47
Which homepage and thread, >>66?
68 Name: Anonymous : 2021-12-22 15:46
I fumbled through the lain community rabbit hole until I found an ad for ralee, which lead to prettyboyyumi and his list of community sites, this being one of em.

71 Name: Anonymous : 2021-12-27 19:44
I have no idea how I found this place but I did several years ago. It's my homepage on a browser I rarely use but I always take a look on here whenever I do. wish I actually knew when I found this place
72 Name: Anonymous : 2022-01-11 15:34
Marginalia search engine too, searching "Fountain pen" to test the results, it gave me the link to the related thread on this site.
73 Name: Anonymous : 2022-01-12 04:30
Just looked at this Marginalia you guys are talking about.
This is an independent DIY search engine that focuses on non-commercial content, and attempts to show you sites you perhaps weren't aware of in favor of the sort of sites you probably already knew existed.
That's an instant bookmark for me.

Holy shit that's a fucking fantastic search engine idea. Definitely bookmarking that
