Out of Character

What's something you like or do that others aren't usually aware of and would be surprised to find out about?

I wear toe socks and can use a sewing machine, though only at a very basic level.

I see and like to grow plants.

I see! Not ”see”.

I like to listen and sing 80s/90s pop music as well as music from other countries. Dance around like I'm a girl, dress like a woman, and wear make up, etc.

I guess that I'm pretty religious actually, just have no interest of discussing or preaching about it.

I've wanted to try toe socks forever, saw some as a kid on a character in an educational game and was amazed when I found out they actually are available for real years later.

Around my friends/piers I use a lot of slang/improper grammar, but when I'm around people I've never met before I'm actually very meticulous about using proper grammar as well as a large vocabulary.

While I'm not much of a crossdresser, I have to say I think people are most surprised that I'm a pretty decent singer. I suppose it's a pretty easy talent to hide though.

There's you, the guy you're replying to and me who are all crossdressers. What is this? How many of us are there?

Is this the place 8ch/cuteboys/ decided to settle?!

I listen to desu metal, quite decent at cooking and am overqualified for my current job.

Despite being fairly clumsy and slow to make decisions mostly I'm fairly skilled in medicine and first aid and can do it so quickly and efficiently it surprises some people.

I'm extremely "Anti-American" but I love Westerns and the history during the American Revolution as well as media based on it. As I regard "The Patriot" as a perfect 10/10 movie.

You probably already know, but I find it amusing that you like the things a significant number of Americans consider to be emblamatic of America and the ideal to strive for.
Personally I like Walden, the idea of wandering off into the woods and just going about life. Maybe satellite internet might be nice though.

Depends on the people I suppose. Some people would be surprised to find out that I use messageboards like this one, some would be surprised that I use heroin regularly, some would be surprised that I compose music.
Also of course the disgusting content you inevitably consume when you spend a large amount of time on the internet...

Out of curiosity, are you American/have you ever lived in America? Or are you from another country?

I spend a fair amount of time on the internet and I don't consume any disgusting content.

I'm chronically searching for random people to talk to.
If I had to dig deeper, I think I'm looking for evidence.
Evidence that there are people about. A feeling of synecdoche.

For the record, it took me ages to come up with a good response to this question.

I have a *ton* of original characters, stories, and general ideas that I've been thinking about since I was a kid. I've never actually done anything with 99% of them - I'm not a very good artist, and my line of work and school has nothing to do with entertainment - but I constantly fantasize about being a popular cartoonist or general media personality, like Walt Disney or Bill Watterson.

Many of these characters are little more than simple self-inserts, and the stories are essentially plots I've previously enjoyed elsewhere, recycled with different elements to sate my interests, but I'm quite proud of the more developed ones and always enjoy thinking about them during my leisure time. It's fun to imagine my own original video games, movies, TV shows, and comics, though I'd be terribly embarrassed if anyone ever knew about most of them. Oftentimes, I rotate which "series" I think about, depending on my general mood and current fascinations.

In real life, I come off as a very serious, stern person, so I think most of the people I know would be surprised to find out that I spend my free time thinking about irreverent fiction.

post here out of style on purpose

I thought I was the only one. Do you think the ideas are so precious because they're only in your head? I've tried writing them out and it never seems to have that same spark.

Definitely. Some work better than others, but more often than not I feel like I can only scratch the slightest surface of what's in my mind when trying to bring these ideas into the real world. I guess it's partly because most of my thoughts are at least somewhat visual-focused and I'm an awful artist, and partly because once they're actually on a page they lose that little personal spark they have as an abstract, malleable concept.

You should actually make those things. I don't mean that you should try to publish them or even show them to others, but you should make them. It's a completely different feeling when you finally create something that is yours, but beyond that, trying to make your ideas real, and learning the skills that are needed for it, challenges your stories into becoming something more thought-out. I can't stress how important and rewarding it is to actually put time in your creative endeavors if you are the fantasizing kind. You don't have to become great at it, but you should do it.

When I drink I become a lot more rowdy.

I am an American, yes. I guess I missed your post months ago and I apologize for just now getting back to you with a response.

Most people don't realize I watch anime, at least offline
24 Name: Anonymous : 2020-01-12 05:54
Honestly, nothing that comes to mind. I have some hobbies but I'm either not that active or really good at them to warrant such a surprise. Great for using in certain situations tho because they're varied enough I can use them to relate to someone else when the need arises.
25 Name: Anonymous : 2020-01-12 06:14
People are always really surprised I liked watching hockey. I guess I don't really come off as someone into contact sports

I watch drama shows on The CW. Matter of fact I need to still watch the new episode of Legacies.
