What did you forget?

1 Name: Anonymous : 2019-10-20 21:36
While coming back from a vacation, I left my favourite jacket at my folks’ house by mistake. There wasn’t anything in the pockets, and it probably won’t be very cold for the next few days, but now my parents have to mail it back to me and I’ll be without it for a little while. It just had a button mended, too, so I’m a bit miffed at myself.

Have you ever forgotten anything? How important was it? What happened as a result?

Sometimes I can forget how miserable my life is and have some fun.
Usually it happens when I'm either drunk or pushed beyond pain threshold. Like a movie that's so bad it's good. Some people can tell from my hysterical laughter.

All the time. I forget dates including birthdays, car keys, wallets and what I wanted to do. Fortunately the things I lose always turn up sooner or later.

I forget the plans I make for the weekends and that is the reason why my friends go to places without me

More often than not, I forget what I had for dinner 2 days ago.

To be honest I long ago accepted that I will always forget something behind when I travel - no matter how many times you search your space before you leave, you will always forget something. Thus I've begun to be far more lax in my searches, a strange fatalism if you will, and I essentially forget things on purpose. Underwear, socks, cuff links, a camera battery, whatever. Once something gets left behind I put in minimal effort to recover it, unless it is of some special value, because I believe that is simply the way it was fated.

Sometimes I forget to put my shirt on correctly. I'll step outside with my shirt inside out with the seams exposed and everything. It's pretty embarrassing.

In Ireland right now, forgot to pack my headphones.
Not like I had the room for them anyways but they would've been nice on the plane. :(

I think I forgot something, but I'm not sure

I've forgotten what it means to be content.

So have I. There are little fleeting moments here and there, but overall I haven't been content in ages.

I forgot my umbrella. I have another one now but I still think about the old one. It's so incredibly easy to lose things you care about.

I left the house this morning with my computer bag.
I returned to the house later this morning with my computer bag.

I went upstairs to the kitchen. Going to do some work on my computer.
I stood in my kitchen for a second - looked around - where is my computer bag?

I text my SO, “Do you know where my computer bag is?”
They reply, “It’s on the counter, in the kitchen.”

I turn around.
There is my computer bag.

I lost my favorite, rare paperback book in a giga-department store.
Dad called the lost n’ found, and it was actually there!
Got it back with a huge slip of paper duct-taped onto it saying something like it’s lost and the date.
Cannot remove it without destroying the cover.
Despair.

As a book lover I felt some level of physical pain reading this. There seem to be some guides on the internet regarding this situation but unfortunately I am not seeing anything surefire. The best I can say is it's probably worth reading around and finding one that seems like a good shot (try testing it out on a similar junk book so you can at least get the concept down) and worst case scenario yeah you might end up in a spot where the book cover is unfortunately ruined. The best option there I suppose would be to seek out a good bookbinder and get it rebound in nice hardcover. It wouldn't be the same rare edition you had unfortunately, but at least it'd be a nice unique copy of your own.

I forgot my glasses somewhere outside. Darn.

I forget stuff so often it's pretty terrible. I was supposed to call to schedule an appointment three months after a doctor's appointment for three months in the future. Turns out that it's been six months since the previous appointment because I forgot.

The only tool I have to remember stuff is writing things down *immediately* once I learn of them. May just be the Mega Autism but I really need this.

I left one of my nicer hoodies on a wall next to a pissing bush at a McDonalds in LA, and didn't realize it until I was two hours away. stings, it was only a month old too.
