Hear something good lately? Have a link you want to share? Maybe an opinion or two?

Come on in.

This is a good song. I like it a lot.

It's funny because a popular Iranian presidential candidate's surname is Ghalibaf. It means rug maker.

I really like some of this guy's stuff, especially Night Sky and Totoro2.0. He does a few hiphop remixes of ghibli themes, so give a look if you're into that.

Those are lovely. Reminds me a bit of those pogo Disney remixes.

I got linked to this on the area and I really like it. Even if it's just a loop. You can just listen to it and not think.

If you like that you should download his album "Beyond the Sea Lies the Stars", as well as the companion album "Beyond the Stars Lies the Sea", the album that track is featured on. They're both fantastic.

The Pastels released an album recently (it's actually been a while), and I am quite in love with it...! This is a sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6SGg4kozXY

I suppose this is more of a mainstream thing, but I really like Daft Punk's new album. Seems to have a pretty mixed opinion among people online though.

I listened to this album too; I prefer Discovery. That said, I liked it.

Yeezus just leaked, and oh man is it raw. I love that he's exploring more of the lo-fi digital elements that were prominent on 808s and Heartbreak.

I just gave it a listen and I'm kind of conflicted overall. The second half seems much better than the first. I'll be sure to give it a few more plays before I really make a decision though.

Good God! Deconstructionist by Giles Corey is really really bad. Hinterkaifeck isn't too great either.
20 Name: Anonymous : 2013-06-18 15:58
>>19
I wasn't a fan of Deconstructionist either. Dan Barrett clearly doesn't understand the workings of binaural tones--distracting sounds, and especially vocal samples, destroy the effect. On top of that, at times the "binaural tones" are just randomly fluctuating sine waves. Pretty laughable. I enjoyed Hinterkaifeck, though, as it's much closer to the sound he nailed on Giles Corey.

Novel was really good! I'd highly recommend buying it when you're able. Here's the Novel version of Hitorinouta, a track that was also featured on the Jizue EP with some minor differences:

When I feel like a relaxing summer vibe, I put on Cafe del Mar. While the normal albums are hit and miss at times, the chillhouse albums are great for all situations, but maybe just a tad less memorable.

Feels like there have been a lot of new albums released recently. Daft Punk, QotSA, Kanye, Portugal. The Man, Boards of Canada. 2013 has been a pretty good year for music so far.

Gave the album 'God Cable' by 'Noodles' a try. The guitars have a got a rich, dirty sound that reminds me of Bloodthirsty Butchers'. In every song is something that'll challenge the listener, if not plenty. The way they choose their notes and progressions is really interesting. I'll spend a lot of time exploring this album.

White Waking by Les Rallizes Denudes. Heard it while playing Space Funeral.

There are two similar bands that I've really been loving lately.

相対性理論 (Soutaiseiriron) and ナンバタタン (Nanbatatan). It's not even necessarily the sweet sounding vocals, but the happy and relaxed atmosphere I appreciate. It's the first time in a while that I've had an emotional reaction from music. Check them out if you like light pop with female vocals.

I like The Black Dog a lot, they make idm and ambient.
I really find it strange how there's absolutely nobody who listens to them around when things like BoC are so loved.
They definitely need some more love.

相対性理論 are really good, I can never recommend them enough. I'll definitely check the other group.

I don't think that's a very good list. It's all games that were recently popular and that makes me question his authority on the subject.

I've been playing Etrian Odyssey IV lately and the OST is wonderful.

I found a nice song recently through goose house. 遠く遠く by Noriyuki Makihara. It's about moving on for the sake of the past.

Original with English subtitles (missing the last refrain which is the same, and the last verse, 僕の夢を叶える場所は/この街と決めたから, 'because I've decided that this town is where I will make my dreams come true'): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_D7aFk-n_4

Someone posted this in the old Afternoon Café a long time ago. I keep returning to it, so I thought I'd share it again. It's a guitar and vocal medley of Vocaloid song performances. Some of them are really delicate, I think.

That was me! I love that song. Some parts make me want to run as fast as I can, and others make me want to burn some inscence and drink tea.

Jesus, how can it possibly be difficult to dig up albums for John Philip Sousa? Hes iconic, but I cant find anything, at least free, with this in it:

Recently came across this album by Mort Garson called Plantasia.
Really strange, interesting and soothing syntesizer music, sometimes even magical.
Here's a song.

Here's Hiromi Uehara, an incredibly talented jazz pianist who was mentored by the legendary Ahmad Jamal.
She's one of my favorite musicians ever, I first saw her live at the Atlanta Jazz Festival in 2010 and fell in love.
She gets incredibly involved with her music, it's almost as if she's making love to her piano.

I just wanted to share this live video from After Dinner. It's an adorable and relaxing pair of songs, coupled with wonderful ambiance provided courtesy of recorded cicadas, with wonderful singing, piano, and violin. It's a little strange, but it definitely tugs at my heartstrings, and still quite catchy.
