So say I get two Gameboy Advance SPs, and a link cable. Can one trade Pokemon between Gold and Emerald?
2 Name: Anonymous : 2014-04-24 01:16
It is impossible to trade between generation 2 (Gold, Silver, Crystal) and generation 3 (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen) games. It's the one big gap in intergenerational Pokémon trading.

Sorry, >>1-san. I hope you're able to enjoy your Pokémon adventures despite this.

Goddamn! Eventually the battery in my Gold will die, and I'll lose all my best monster friends.

You can always replace your cartridge's battery. You don't necessarily even need to be able to solder. There are videos on Youtube that will show you how.
If you really want to put elbow grease into it you might be able to take the Pokémon's data structures off your Gold save file through a Gameshark or something like it and recreate them with same Trainer ID and everything in Emerald. I don't know of anyone who's done anything like that before but it's worth investigating I think!

Yeah, I did know about the Gameshark thing, but Gamesharks corrupt your games. I've replaced batteries before. But in doing so I will loose everything.

You could play the third generation on a flashcard and then transfer your hacked pokémon to fourth generation!

Sure we're talking about the same things? I mean using the USB save import/export feature of some Gameshark/Action Replay type devices. You could back up the saves to both games with it before modifying them and if the modifications fail then just go back to the backups.

Hey, you could back up Gold with that then replace the battery then restore the old save to it.

Closest thing would be...

It's still an active WIP.

That's saddening.

Pokemon related question, this is not true, is it?

Supposedly, in 1996, there was a sudden string of illnesses and suicides in children ages 7-12 in Japan, and Pokemon was to blame. No, it wasn’t because they were upset that they didn’t get the version they wanted--apparently things went bad when the players arrived in Lavender Town, the game’s haunted, ghost-filled area. The music here included strange, high-pitched noises (that went on to be referred to as the “Lavender Town Tone”) that weren’t audible to adult ears, and only affected children. Since Nintendo employed only adult playtesters, no one noticed until children started killing themselves.

It’s reported that at least 200 kids killed themselves after hearing the Lavender Town Tone, with countless more reporting headaches. In 2010, someone who analyzed the tone revealed Unowns (a second-generation Pokemon) that spelled out “LEAVE NOW,” because, apparently, children killing themselves over an incredibly creepy song wasn’t disturbing enough. Oh, and adding fuel to the fire: The music was changed in the US version, with no reason being given by Nintendo.

Why would someone write something so long if it weren't true?
12 Name: Anonymous : 2014-05-07 20:19
I think it's an exaggeration. Lavender town always gave me headaches, but never made me suicidal or sick.

Of course, I was playing the American version, so who knows.

This thread is now Afternoon Pocket Monsters General.

My first was Yellow. My second was Crystal. My This was Sapphire. Gen One is my favorite gen of monsters, Gen 2 made me fall in love with the massive game engine upgrades, Gen threes music and atmosphere made you really feel the rush of adventure. These three games will live forever, deep in my heart. Getting to relive the tropical Hoenn continent in the immersion of a 3D world...I do not have the words. It makes me so very happy.

I will end my emotive post with one last reminder.

I feel you there. I can't wait for this to be released. I always loved third gen the best, trumpets and all.
What Pokemon games have you guys been playing lately? I've been playing Crystal and using those Pokemon in Stadium 2, and trying to beat Stadium 2, even with your own Pokemon, is tough as hell. I almost forgot how many lucky breaks the computer got. Makes it really frustrating.
And don't even get me started on the Challenge Cup.

I've been playing a game of Blue, trying to make a team of cute unevolved Pokemon. I got stalled after Fuschia though. I was thinking about replacing Squirtle with Omanyte, and trying to save all the trainer encounters on the way for that, however I feel like I'd be betraying my original cause of playing as a kid who loves all his animal friends.

Why not have both? Switch on/off with the two.

No, it's not true; just a story. Lavender Town is creepy as heck, tho.
On an unrelated topic, Celadon City is the best city.
