When I said that the newest entry was "The History of the Web", I meant that it was the first new link *in the update* - Every link that comes after "The History of the Web" is a new addition in this update. Sorry for the confusion due to my poor wording.

Maybe add a "(NEW!)" tag to the latest entries
and keep that until the next batch of links comes.

Yes, always.

This is one of my favourite internet places. Looking into koronbas past led me to discovering Speder2, who does the music for the games here. This is the website of a group that makes small, short games, with nice art and music.

Western forums aren't doing too hot either, even on non-nerdy ones there are people who are open about either the state of the hobby they're doing declining and being less fun or the forum becoming worse and debating ever logging back on. I wonder if everything is becoming worse or people are just growing old and bitter in general.
Seeing all the dead links on here was a sad sight, but I did find an imageboard that gave me a nice interaction that made me feel good.

There is nothing to do offline besides going to work and falling asleep. Conversation is mentally draining and a waste of time. The only reason I still bother owning a computer is to do personal research, finish my backlogs, and to discover music. The internet hasn't been "fun" for close to a decade.

This might be slightly off-topic, but does anyone remember this one short-lived imageboard experiment from, I wanna say late 2000s, where every post was automatically machine-translated? The goal was internet cultural exchange, I think it might have been called 10chan, and it was a pretty funny place for the short time it was alive. I think a japanese guy made it and the few japanese denizens that were around made some genius posts in there, like one about generating power from hikki masturbation that I remember to this day.
I'd be very happy I could find even a partial archive of it, or just some other people who remember. I have to make sure it wasn't just a dream I had.

Well, perhaps some things are best left as memories.
I wonder if a similar concept would work better now that machine translation has advanced a bunch.

If you're looking for active usenet groups, google groups aggregates new posts I think.
It's mostly file sharing these days, people prefer moderated areas with multimedia support and spam control.

>>684>>696The filesharing and text discussion "faces" of usenet are now two distinct worlds as no one uses traditional usenet clients for the binary groups anymore. A number of text groups are active (not when compared to the 90s usenet, but compared to english textboards for example, they can be considered so). These are exclusively tech themed groups (c, unix, gopher and so on), all the others are completely dead. The problem of usenet today, among others, is the absurdly large topical structure with thousands now empty groups made at the time when there were actually people on it.

Reminds me of all those niche text/imageboards out there. Everyone makes a new one even though the ones that are already there barely get any traffic to begin with and most of the new ones aren't even unique enough to justify their existence.
