Demotivational Posters (a.k.a Demotivators) are typically designed to discourage one’s moral strength and diminish one’s self-esteem. It usually consists of a picture, centered and bordered in black, with an all-cap title written in white, and in some cases, a tagline written in smaller font.

Little girl cartoons sure are great. I don't know about Pretty Rhythm but Dokidoki Precure is pretty fun.

First of all, thanks for this. I've been wanting some more island themed stuff since I read Ritou no Umi a few months ago.

The art in the first few pages had me a little worried but it got much better quickly and the backgrounds look especially nice. I really love all the little details on the maps and the items strewn about Mikura's house. Shame there's only one volume though, and it's been almost a year since that was scanlated. I love a good mystery so I'm really looking forward to more of this.

I guess /a/ is gone for good. Oh well.

What are your honest opinions on the anime industry overall? Has it gone downhill? My opinion is that 2005 - today has been the best but it's always nice to hear other peoples opinions.

The industry is pretty much the same level of quality as always. Folks who say otherwise usually weren't there, or have a big nostalgic pair of glasses on. Some years/decades end up with a larger amount of unforgettable offerings, but it mostly comes down to luck of the draw, and on an individual seasonal basis the ratio is usually about the same, as long as you compare cours to their yearly equivalents and aren't lining them up side by side.

I'm actually pretty happy with the amount of content put out, in any case. I easily manage to see a good dozen plus shows a season that I at least find worth finishing for one reason or another, which is nice. Not to say quantity beats quality, since I tend to find there's the same amount of great stuff around any given year, but rather, it's fun to have a saturation of good stuff right alongside it. Never had that in the 90's.

It's a bummer how down /a/ is right now, though. I'm under the impression that it's in another funk and will fluctuate back up like it has in the past, but it's definitely the lowest valley in a longer history. I can barely leave threads that I know are safe, IE weekly late night discussion threads for a particular manga.

Looking at the current season, all of the shows just look so... mediocre. Or in the case of Aku no Hana, so bad it's funny.

In other news:
>Yume Nikki manga
>Yume Nikki light novel
Neat. Any thoughts on how those will play out?
>LN based on a video game without any dialouge; I'm hoping the illustrations will be amazing, so I'll still be following that, even if it does end up bombing.

While 80's and 90's stuff appeals more to me, I don't think it's necessarily any better or worse. Just different. Animation quality on a whole got improved.

For the most part I ignore bronies, I know some of them are serious and but the majority of the fanbase is extremely obnoxious. I know its just trolling but I hate it when people lump it together with anime fans though a lot of anime fans are just as bad and /a/ is evident of that.

/q/ is largely to blame, everybody came to whine their concerns and its turned into a police state over there. The original appeal to me was the fact that you could say anything without having to deal with immature mods on a power trips.

Looks absolutely great. Absolutely great way to start a year following an even greater year. I might drop a few pieces of opinion when things air or when I'm done sorting my thoughts about Nekomonogatari.

Minami-ke has proven to be quite well in my opinion, I'd even go as far as to say its on the same level as the first season though its a shame I have to wait a week for each episode.

Shaft and KyoAni both have done decently as usual but neither really appeals to me more than their other shows though they both have their good points. Tamako has that Lucky Star kind of feel we haven't seen in a while with a mixture of K-ON! and a hint of Keion. Sasami on the other hand has the typical Shaft art that I can't get enough of how ever plot wise I guess I'm still waiting but Shaft slightly edges out for me.

The rest is fairly standard, not much to say really.

Completely understand though from early on I believe they said they wanted to go into this direction so I kind of expected it.

The focus being on romance doesn't bother me too much but at the same time seeing more focus on their delusions and just playing around while growing at the same time would be more entertaining.

I'm a lot into drama and romance so Chuunibyou only improved during the ride for me.

Hiroyuki Okiura's new movie, A Letter to Momo, was released and translated just recently.

I had the pleasure to watch it today. It was delightful from the beginning to the end and felt emotionally fulfilling. It seemed like something that would fit Afternoon Cafe users' taste to me.

Being an Okiura movie and in production for a rather long time now, needless to say it was absolutely fantastic in terms of animation and artwork. The attention they put into scenery and the body language of the characters was really impressing. Especially body language seems to be generally ignored by anime due to budget constraints and whatnot, and thus doesn't get the appreciation I think it deserves. It isn't all that uncommon to hear people saying how Kyoani wastes animation where it isn't warranted, for example. But it was as if this was created to disprove that sort of claim. Character animation can be used to breathe life into characters and their body language tells us something meaningful about them. As an example, the difference between how our main character, Momo, acts when she's alone or among people she's familiar with and how she acts among strangers especially caught my attention. Talking with the folk of the island, she's really, really limited with her expressions and gestures. However whenever they're not present, she suddenly becomes incredibly expressive in her emotional reactions. Well, as far as most of the screentime is concerned at least, since her situation changes towards the ending. I thought this was a really nice touch.

Youkai were and behaved somewhat dickish and crude, but in a funny or even cute kind of way. Also their scenes towards the ending were simply incredible, especially Shinya Ohira's cuts. The man is a genius.

The themes of the movie certainly reminded me a bit of Tamayura, considering how the main character's loss of her father and coming to a new island were basis ideas for both. I also remember scenes that showed the beautiful scenery of the island in a really similar fashion in Tamayura. I guess this is all for my observations and thoughts.

You serious? I've been waiting for almost a year.

Although, and I'm ashamed to admit, I became interested only for the most superficial of reasons.

How many people are still interested in our project?

For those who didn't see I wrote up my idea for a prologue over on the BBS: ../bbs/res/6.html

Feel free to rip it to pieces.

I started with something today, and I've got the entire short story thought out and written out in small bullet points.

Reading back what I wrote a year ago is actually quite an experience; I haven't written at all since then and I couldn't recall writing like that. I feel like things should be rewritten a tad, but that's always the case when you reread something you wrote quite a while ago.

I can't and won't promise I'll be done any time soon or anything of the sort. Last time I promised something about writing (the holiday writing yadayada), nothing much happened, so I don't want to create expectations. Just a minor note that indeed, things are happening!

I have to avoid becoming all meta though. I was writing today and all of a sudden it becomes a giant essay of why people shouldn't start stories with certain things.

The problems of having a main character who is a writer by trade.
